Macro Photography

$319.00

Class Date: 5 April 2025 (Saturday)

  • Canberra Class

  • Beginners to Intermediate

  • 7 Hrs tuition

  • Lunch & morning tea incl.

  • Field trip

This class provides a hands-on learning environment to get your head around foundational photographic principles, with a focus on MACRO photography.

The class begins in a relaxed and comfortable indoor learning environment with no more than 6 participants. Later in the day, the group will step out into the field on a short field trip, to solidify their skills IN THE FIELD.

This class is suitable for beginners and those who need a refresher on all things photography with a macro focus. The class is also great for those who may have gaps in knowledge when wanting to 'shoot' something, but not quite able to get the shot seen in the mind’s eye.

This class can run rain, hail or shine! I have many insects, flowers and interesting things to shoot if the outdoors do not play nice.

WHAT WILL YOU LEARN?

·       How to navigate YOUR photographic equipment and best understand your camera’s Menu options, for best outcomes in-field (including minimum focussing distances and fundamental camera features!)

·       Understand how your camera captures an image, so as you know what settings control what outcomes and why (The exposure triangle and how macro throws a spanner in it all!).

·       Navigate creating your image through understanding not only Aperture, Shutter speed and ISO but also in-built modes such as Aperture Priority and Shutter Priority.

·       Understand light metering and exposure compensation (what does your histogram ‘actually’ show? and what does ‘correctly exposed’ really mean?).

·       Understand behaviours of natural light, flash lighting, white balance and in-field things to look for relating to light and why they matter especially in macro photography.

·       Concepts behind composition and to use it effectively.

·       Understand the macro equipment available on the market and gain knowledge on how to choose items best for what YOU are wanting to photograph.

·       An overview of why to edit and what software is available.

·       Learn ‘best practice’ and processes for looking after your equipment.

·       Understand what you (as an individual) need to do ‘next’ to continue on your photographic journey! we are not all the same and this part is tailored specifically to you - by me!
